Due to the ongoing public health situation in New Orleans regarding the COVID-19 virus and in an abundance of caution in regards to the well-being of our community, the Alliance Française has made the decision to cancel Festinema Junior.
While we are disappointed in this decision, we understand that it is what is necessary to ensure the health and safety of our community as well as that of the AFNO team.
At this time, all Winter classes in session until March 21 will be held as scheduled. Please stay tuned to our social media for updates regarding the Spring Session.
Festinema Junior is an annual nationwide French film festival and educational program designed for children and adolescents, created by the Alliance Française network in the U.S. It is part of Kids Trail, a program initiated by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S. and the FACE Foundation. Now in its 7th year, this event is an opportunity to inspire learning and understanding of international cultures through cinema.
As one of the founding Alliance Française chapters of Festinema, Alliance Française New Orleans is excited to host its seventh edition at the Prytania Theatre March 5th through 27th.
Festinema is a nation-wide youth French film festival organized by the Alliance Française Foundation aimed at “encouraging children to discover foreign films and to develop an active, analytical appreciation of cinema.” The festival will also promote the French language and francophone cultures to the youngest generation of New Orleans, and Louisiana as a whole. In addition, educators will learn how to incorporate film as a teaching tool.
