About this event:
Join acclaimed Director of ‘Bayou Maharajah,’ Lily Keber and Producer, Camille Lenain as they take us behind the scenes of the making of their upcoming documentary “Après Nous.” The film focuses on francophone culture in LA and explores Cajun, Creole and Native American communities, their historic tie to the land and the current threats experienced from both environmental and mainstream anglophone factors.
In 2013 ‘Bayou Maharajah,’ Lily’s documentary of infamous New Orleans piano legend, James Booker, was named Oxford American Best Southern Film, and won the Louisiana Feature Audience Award at the New Orleans Film Festival. She co-founded New Orleans Video Voices, a women-led collective dedicated to increasing medial literacy across the Gulf South. Camille Lenain is a native Parisian who resettled in New Orleans after coming to work on a documentary about the city, and has worked with the Alliance as a children’s French teacher and is a musician and photographer.
A part of AFNO’s Meet and Greet series, the event is free and open to all. Join us to find out more about the process of making the documentary, and more about Lily and Camille.
